Kaine’s Second TV Ad – ‘Research’ – Focuses on Health Care, Economic Benefits of Investing in Medical Research in Virginia
The ads, which will begin airing Tuesday as part of a six-figure buy this week, put health care — and health care jobs — front and center in his campaign, a stark contrast with Corey Stewart who would repeal the Affordable Care Act and opposed Medicaid expansion. This week, Kaine will barnstorm Virginia with events in Newport News, Norfolk, Fairfax County, and Lee County to emphasize the importance of expanding and investing in health care.
In the Senate, Kaine has supported federal investment in medical research. He led efforts to pass the bipartisan Gabriella Miller Kids First Act, which authorized pediatric research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and has dedicated more than $50 million to pediatric research since 2015. Kaine has also voted to increase research investment at the federal level through government appropriations bills. As Governor, Kaine worked with Republicans, Democrats, and the private sector to create and expand medical research centers such as the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute and Eastern Virginia Medical School.
