Tim Kaine to Focus on Health Care This Week in Campaign Stops in Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia, Southwest Virginia
Senator Tim Kaine will focus on health care during a campaign swing this week that will take him from Hampton Roads to Northern Virginia to Southwest Virginia. These stops follow the release of Kaine’s second set of television ads this week, which focus on health care and the good jobs that medical research has brought to Virginia. Improving health care is central to Kaine’s campaign, where he has laid out plans to create a “Medicare X” public option and strengthen protections for Virginians with pre-existing conditions.
On Tuesday, Kaine will tour the South-Eastern Virginia Family Project, a program that provides residential services to pregnant and parenting women who are struggling with substance use disorders. Kaine will then attend two “Neighbor to Neighbor” conversations with local community members to lay out his plans and take questions on health care issues. He will host “Neighbor to Neighbor” events in Norfolk on Tuesday and in Fairfax on Wednesday; and on Saturday, in Lee County, Kaine will host a roundtable discussion on health care in Pennington Gap.
“Neighbor to Neighbor” conversations are events organized by the Kaine campaign specifically to engage with voters who in past years may not have always been involved in the political process and wouldn’t usually have access to a personal conversation with their U.S. Senator in their neighborhood.
Media interested in attending any of these events should contact Kaine campaign press secretary Brandon Gassaway at firstname.lastname@example.org.
