As Senator, Tim has fought to keep Virginians safe by ensuring law enforcement has the training, technology, and tools they need to secure the U.S. border.
Tim has voted for nearly $300 billion for border security to stop the flow of illicit drugs and weapons into the U.S., address humanitarian needs at the border, and keep Virginians safe. He supports the bipartisan border security bill – the best bill in decades to secure the border – and will work with anyone willing to provide law enforcement with the tools they have been asking for to protect us. He knows too many Virginians have died from fentanyl, which is why he has introduced and passed the bipartisan Disrupt Fentanyl Trafficking Act to direct increased federal attention to fentanyl trafficking by declaring fentanyl trafficking a national security threat, utilizing Pentagon resources like counter-drug intelligence, and involving Mexico as an active partner to combat the crisis. The bipartisan border security deal would have also provided funding to deploy more inspection machines to detect fentanyl at ports of entry as well as increase law enforcement officers, immigration judges, and asylum officers.
Tim thinks that Virginians pay the cost when Republicans just want to talk about border security to score political points, instead he’s committed to reaching and passing bipartisan solutions.
